At Home Euthanasia

Providing compassionate, at-home euthanasia for ill or elderly pets is a crucial and honorable service offered by The Mobile Vet Company.

Why at home euthanasia?

While it may be the most challenging part of our job, it is also an essential and deeply meaningful service that allows pets to have a peaceful and dignified passing in the comfort of their familiar surroundings, surrounded by their loving families.

Our compassionate process & what to expect.

Our Veterinarian and Vet Assistant will come to your home, creating a peaceful environment where you and your pet can stay together. During the entire appointment, which typically lasts 30-45 minutes, we prioritize your comfort and move at a pace that suits you best.

Your Veterinarian will give you an overview of the veterinary euthanasia process, ensuring there’s time for your questions or concerns. Once you’re ready, your pet will receive an injection with pain medication and a sedative to alleviate any discomfort and induce relaxation.

Once your pet is peacefully asleep or fully relaxed and you’re ready, the veterinarian will administer the medication to gently stop their heart through injection or IV catheter. Throughout the process, you and your family can be right by your pet’s side, providing comfort and support every step of the way.

Pet Aftercare & Cremation

The Mobile Vet Company offers pet owners three different options for handling the remains of their pets prior to their euthanasia appointment:

1. Home Burial: Pet owners can choose to bury their pets at home themselves. This option allows for a personal and intimate way to lay their beloved companion to rest in a location that holds special meaning.

3. Department of Environmental Health Pickup and Cremation: Alternatively, pet owners can opt to have the Department of Environmental Health handle the remains. The department will pick up the pet’s body and perform a communal cremation in a large incinerator. With this option, no individual ashes are returned to the pet owner.

These three options give pet owners the flexibility to choose the most suitable way to honor their pet’s memory and handle their remains according to their preferences and emotional needs. Whether they prefer a personal and private burial at home, a private cremation with ashes returned, or a communal cremation arranged by the local authorities, The Mobile Vet Company aims to provide compassionate and considerate aftercare services for families during this difficult time.
